Community Bulletin Board and Pamphlet Display

As part of its public service and information mission, the Melrose Park Public Library makes specific areas available for handouts, magazines, flyers, and posters. These areas are designated for library- related materials and for educational, recreational, cultural, and human services information that is created by, and of interest to, the local community

The Library has dedicated bulletin boards and informational kiosks to share community information in the form of posters, magazines, flyers, and pamphlets. Due to limited space, the MPPL limits postings and handouts to organizations and groups that conduct activities relevant to the mission of the library and/or have a significant relationship to the Melrose Park community.

Acceptable Materials:

1. Library required postings and Library announcements

2. Village of Melrose Park and other local government information and events

3. Melrose Park non-profit organizations and events

4. Local items of interest that are not commercial in nature

Unacceptable Materials:

1. Business Advertisements unrelated to library services

2. Personal notice such as lost and found notices

3. Products sold for profit. Garage of other sale signs

4. Services, such as babysitting, house cleaning, or tutoring for which fees are charged

5. Items that advertise or sell personal or commercial items (autos, used furniture, houses, etc.)

6. Personal or commercial solicitation, fundraising, or recruitment

7. Signs soliciting donations

8. Private legal notices

9. Private instructional courses

10. Materials urging support or opposition to candidates for office or to issues on a ballot

Items for display or distribution that meet these guidelines must be delivered to library staff for evaluation and approval in advance of posting. Approved materials will be posted by MPPL staff for a maximum of one month depending on space. The library reserves the right to discard materials that are no longer timely.

Posting of a notice does not imply endorsement by the Library staff or the Board of Trustees of any product, service, activity, event, or viewpoint displayed in the posted item.
